“Dad, we forgot to do Scripture!,” chirped a little voice from the backseat. “Yup, you’re right. Thanks for the reminder,” I responded.
This conversation took place today after visiting Niagra Lighthouse. I opened my Bible and read from John 9, about Jesus healing the man born blind, and how Jesus calls himself the light of the world.

As you read on in this story, you find the this blind man experiences some major consequences in his life because of this miraculous healing. The church leadership eventually kicked him out of the synogog. They banished him from his community.
Jesus found him afterwards and had another conversation with this formerly blind man. I could imagine this man could have had some choice words for Jesus. “How could you let this happen, Jesus?!”
But that’s not what happens. Instead this man seeks after Jesus, continues to follow him, and even falls down to worship Him. Because, not only was this man’s eyes opened to perceive physical light, but the eyes of his heart were opened to be enlightened with faith.
This man woke up that morning as a blind beggar, and ended that day seeing and becoming a disciple of Jesus. Jesus created a desire in the heart of the blind man. Nevermind his previous life, nevermind banishment from the synogog. This encounter with the Light of the World changed his life forever.
And Jesus created a desire in this blind man heart and life–the same kind of desire that chirps from the backseat.
